Hello, I recently picked up a parts Tecate(85) to try and get mine up and going. I also bought it because it had some aftermarket parts on it. I need some help identifying the swingarm. It is +2 with oval tubing. If you have any ideas please let me know.

Also, what were the available extended axles? It has one of these too, I believe it to be +4 or +6 I have not got a good measurement yet.

Thanks for your help!

Looks like a Frank's swingarm to me.

Thanks! I would say you are right, looks just like it. If it is worth 400 bucks I scored on this deal.

I have a +6 axle on my 84. Can we see pics of the rest of the trike?

I was at Wal-Mart with my wife yesterday and there was a tecate on a trailer in the lot. So I walked over to check it out (much to my wifes dismay  ), and he had another in pieces in the bed of the truck. He had DG pipes and silencers. Tecate and KX cylinders. A great condition OEM intake boot. The Tecate on the trailer had a Franks swingarm on it.

I left my phone number and they came by the house. I let him ride my Tecate around the property. They had never seen a tecate before. They didn't know what they were going to do with them. After riding mine they decided to rebuild them.

I'm not even going to tell you what they paid for them. My wife was mad at me for telling them what the Franks swinger was worth. She wanted to try and swing a deal for them. They said they might become members here.

I have to run some errands right now, but when I get back I will post up some pics for you.

Is there a reason the Franks is worth so much? It does look to be built very strong.

It is amazing what you will find in someones old garage.

Old Hoosier Tri-Tracs and those goodies.....looks like you scored an old race machine from the day. Well worth $400 in my book.

Franks swingarm, extended axle(looks like a DuraBlue with little to no taper towards the ends), aftermarket hubs(look to be).......heck yeah.

I don't think you own enough Tecates. There are still a couple other people who own some you haven't bought yet. :naughty:

What's up with the old duck tape on the axle and grab bar?
Is the front tire studded?

There are still a few Tecates that I havent gotten to yet :)

Yes the front tire is studded, I am assuming it was an ice racer. I have no idea what is up with the duct tape.

Great score!!

If more people treated stuff like you, there would be allot of nice used trikes out there..... Sadly, it seems that 75% of our beloved pre-owned trikes were left outdoors and if we were lucky, they threw a tarp over them....

And the tarp consequently rotted away too :(

Thanks for the welcome, I try to keep everything in as good as shape as I can. Sadly I got to these T3 a little too late, left outside and lots of dry rot. But I am going to try and get it up and running good.

The duct tape around the axle nuts is an old trick to reduce the likelyhood of the axle nuts working loose......it was in a magazine "cheap tricks" section once or twice back then.

If you ever want to part with the front wheel or the lowering strut, please let me know.

....and WELCOME to 3WW!

The rear wheels are Mitchell Race. I dont even know if they have been around since the 80s? Anyone have any info on them?

I am not going to use the front studded tire and wheel Dixie send me a PM and we will work something out. However I am going to keep the linkage for now.
