well i blew the chain today....and bent my shift fork...also it blew the the chain guard right off and its missing in action.....so my Q is do i have to split the cases to change it out? thx

I believe you can remove the shift fork by removing the clutch cover and pulling it out thru the right side of the engine. I highly recommend getting a manual if you're gonna do it yourself.

Did you bend your shifter shaft or shift fork?The shifer shaft is what the shift lever bolts to.A shift fork is inside the motor as part of the tranny assembly.I am guessing you bent the shifter shaft.Which can be replace by aking the clutch cover off.It is very simple to do.Might as well change the seal too.
