i have a 84 tecate cdi i need to take it apart to fix the wires can this be done.an if so how do i go about doing it thanks

Yes they can be. A buddy of mine repaired a bayou 4 wheeler cdi box once. Anything can be fixed. Even a Tecate.:)

any ideas on how he got it apart i started to use a heat lamp to losen the glue.then i thought maybe someone tried this already an could lead me in the right direction

I Googled for cdi repair, alot of chatter. This guy used a dremel to cut his Honda CDI open. It's in Dutch though, I had to use Google translate to read it. Not even sure if this helps you.

No idea how he fixed it. It had no spark and he took it apart and cleaned the rust out of it and work great.

most of the time you cant though, unless you dont mind if it doesnt work when you put it back together. all your going to find is some diodes a triggering circut and a capacitor. none of that can be fixed that im aware of

i just pickd up a new one so no need to try an fix the old one.hopefuly this will make my 4 year trike build complete.

Yeah!
I tried taking apart a 250r CDI, just to see how it worked.
In the end, I lost beer drinking time, and a good CDI.

I am thinking that it isnt even worth it. In owning and working on over 50 machines over the years, I have seen 1 bad CDI.
