There are a few complete. this one has bad problems on the parts that count( ie: conversion pieces ). So it will never be a factory restore.

well at least you these things, Seat pan, swing arm, frame, gas tank, motor, pipe. with out those it would be useless.

Macs
05-18-2009, 08:30 PM
swing arm is what is f$%@#$ up. Along with the axle and brake componets. I will have to get a bit fabbed. But who knows. when it arrives it might not be that bad.

Congrats!! My cagiva has been the hardest restore to date. I was lucky enough to find a complete one but the motor internals are extinct. After 2 years I just hit the jackpot on 12 of my 25 missing motor internals. Mine is very close to being a roller again. Over time I have found some NOS cagiva plastics. Good luck on the restore.

How bad is the swinger and plastics? anything under 2 1/2ft wide by 2 1/2 feet high i can repro

Macs
05-18-2009, 09:24 PM
the plastics are chalky, not sure how bad they have oxided until it gets here but the scoops are shot so i am expecting the plastics to be bad. It uses a 250r front fender so the mud flap can come off. I am doing alot of speculating until it gets here. I cant tell the severity of it off pics.

Those rear fenders look like Kawasaki KLT fenders. Are they?

Congrats on your find by the way - super cool ultra rare trike you got there!

What's the story? How did you find it?

in the classifieds at .org I was really surprised. i was thinking that i have read they are tecate rear plastics but i will have to re-educate myself on them. The flatbed leaves in the morning to pick it up. I am stoked but the wife is pissed.

At HREATV he could make you a exact copy of the conversion swingarm. he is the guy that made the Teacte/ 400ex swingers on here for a couple members.

just read that some internal parts from a Husky WR250 will work in a cagiva 250.so they should also work in the cagiva 200 since its a sleeved down 250,right??

Macs
05-19-2009, 10:49 PM
yes it is. I dont think the husky wr250 parts are compatible with 83 wmx parts. I think they were in the later years after the merger. i could be wrong though.

At one time, OC had a really nice new green seatcover for sale. The fenders you could probably get a nice fiberglass mold made since it seems that they are few and far between. The engine pieces seem like is what would be the hardest to find. The rear swinger shouldn't be so hard to get fixed right since there are several members on here that are pretty talented with that kind of stuff. I don't think that it will be impossible to have a really nicely refreshed cagiva. A little tougher than the Tigers, but not impossible. Best of luck with your project. I saw your post on .org about 5 minutes after you wrote it or I would have jumped on it.

Nice find, I'm in the same boat with mine. Going to be a rough restore. The front fender is 85-86 250R, rear fenders are red 84-85 Tecate, so no big deal on those. As far as the original seat cover that OC had, I now own it, along with the rad shrouds, number plate and a few other extra parts he had. Sorry. The main thing I need is a gas tank and engine parts. Swingarm won't be bad as there are many who could fab one up. I picked up a swinger from a bike and am going to use most of it, just have someone fab a nice carrier on it. I mananged to get my hands on a set of factory forks but they were useless. Anyway, nice find and good luck with the build.:beer

I believe Cagiva's trikes were dirtbikes that were converted from the factory. The frame, tank, and other stuff are same as from the dirtbike.

I have the fenders worked out. they will be maire, but i am not going to do a full restore. I want to freshen it up and preserve whats left. Make it an operatable machine then slowly collect parts for a full restore one day. I am going to paint, powder coat replace as many worn parts that i can. I dont plan into messing with the engine. No sense in pulling it apart and not finding the parts to put it back together. Get the swingarm repaired, straighten out the sub frame and figure out what in the world is going on with the front end. It looks twisted.

It's not that closely guarded of a secret if he paid what the buyer asked for. If he paid less, then he even got a better deal.
