Is it okay to keep the tip off my 200x?

Hi my 200x has a dented in tip. I was wondering if its okay to leave it straight piped for a while?.

I think that is a misconception. It's like telling drag race car drivers not to run open headers. Open headers run just fine. As long as there is a header pipe on there to create back pressure then it should be fine without a muffled silencer. At least, i assume that is what he means by a "tip". I've never heard anything being referred to as a tip so maybe i'm thinking of the wrong thing?:wondering

i ran my atc 90 in the 80's for a whole summer with just a head pipe.nothing ever happened.i went through water,full boar,putted around,and beat the snot out of it.only thing that did happen was ticking off the neighbors,too bad.

When I pulled the guts out of my 350X pipe, it was noticable on the top end, that the trike was running lean from the lack of backpressure. A new main jet and you would be fine...

You can run an open pipe if you can jet it correctly. It's not a drag car on ALKY though.......

It's always best to have a good exhaust thats tuned to your motor for the most performance. I guess "fix the exhaust" is the best advice I can give.......

Without allowing more air in on a 200x it'll be fine. I ran a xr like that for 10 years and it still ran great when i sold it.

OK, so none of you Honda guys are saying it so I am going to say it for you.

Seriously though, a four stroke Honda engine isn't going to break by running a header pipe and no silencer.

im my experiences running an open header made it not idal all that well...but during regular riding it was just fine
