I recently aquired a Yamaha 200ES-R I believe it is fully called. I believe it was a 1985, the only year they made the 200 electric start with revrse. Am I right so far?
Well, anyway, I am rather new at 3 wheelers, and ATV's in general. Is there any advice, useful info you guys would like to give me on riding / maitenence / Not breaking it? it is in fairly good condition and has been very lightly used in the past 10 years, some years never even being started. It seems to run great and starts easily, however, it tends to die when I turn the ignition to "Light." Any Ideas? When shut off, or killed in seccond or third gear, dosent allow me to shift down into neutral once in a while. The toe lever just depresses without shifting down. I have to pull start it in gear. Agian, Any ideas?

Hi welcome to 3 wheeler world!

It would be Yamaha YTM 200ERN if it is a 200with reverse (yes they only made them in '85).

The light switch sounds like a short somewhere to me, first off check over all the wires and connections.

As for the shifting issue, try rocking the trike back and forth when you shift it with the engine off. The transmission needs to line itself up in order to shift between gears, it can do it by itself if t is not turning slightly.

so, the engine is not supposed to run while in light mode?
Another thing I discovered, is it normal for you guys to have a really fark headlight, untill you give it some gas? when I use the headlight, (left hand thumb control) the headlight comes on, but it is really dark (both low and high) untill I throttle up a little. when I telease the throttle, the lights immeaditally dim back to almost nothing. Is this true for all in order to save battery, or do I have a faulty electrical system or something?
Thanks for the help by the way.
