175 tri-moto oil tank

I got a old service manual for my tri now.
My question is do I need the oil tank?
Does the oil tank supply oil for the engine?
Do I add oil to the engine oil through the transmission filler cap?
I've been looking at the pictures and the specs and all it's doing is getting more confused.

Can some one post a pic of the oil tank hoses.

You need the tank. The 175 is oil injected (you dont pre mix the fuel).
There should be a little tube running from the oil tank, to a little metal box like thing, then a tube from the box thing going to the carb.
the "box thing" is actually a vacum operated oil pump, it attaches to the frame.. can't remember which side though.


The "oil filler cap" is for the transmission and the bottom end of the motor.

I have a 125 tri moto that I am putting a rebuilt 175 motor in. The plastic tank on the side of the 3 wheeler is where you put the oil in. There is a oil pump on the side of the engine that mixes the oil and gas. I just mix the gas and oil and put it in the tank and dont fool with the oil pump. After all if the oil pump fails or the oil line breaks or becomes plugged you will burn up your motor real quick. Just something tothink about Glenn Oister

thats the fuel pump, the oil pump is crank driven, on the right side of the motor, Mabey you shouldn't front if you are 2000 miles away from the trikes you toad. :rolleyes:

thats right, I forgot. The $20 trike's was full of ice when we pulled it apart.

so one hose runs from the oil tank to the crank pump, then a small hose runs up to the carb.... right?
