Go for a ride on my trike via a helmet cam mounted to the headlight gaurd on my 350x. The cam belongs to a freind but I will be borrowing it again for trikefest for sure. Watch my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRYFC1srbcg :welcome:

Here is a link to the website for the camera that I used. I really liked it and will eventually get one for myself. Not a bad deal for $160. That is what my buddy got his for off of egay. http://www.goprocamera.com/products

Can I wear you helmet cam around the racetrack at Haspin this year? Would make for some intense footage!
Awesome Video Ditch - very cool - and that camera really does a super nice job.

unfortunitely most of the footage looks the same. The batteries I used didn't last long, and the stuff that I really wanted to tape came along after the batteries died:( I'm thinking that at trikefest I will bring lots of lithium batteries. I want to have footage from the hill climb, mx, poker run and the drags. I will need a couple of volunteers to let me rig it to their trike for the different race classes.

No problem tim! I am taking it to Smith rd. too. Corbin will have it in the B class but if you are racing in the A we can rig it to your trike.

These seem like pretty badass little cameras. I've been looking at the VIO POV cameras but the price has always kept me away and, honestly, the footage I've seen from them doesn't blow me away. The sample vids on the GoPro site look quite a bit better even though they're not widescreen. I'd like to pick up one or two of these before next dune season if I can. I bet dune footage would look killer with these.

When I go to the video nothing happens! Just a black square :( :( I can view other YouTube videos, but not this one.

You should have no problem getting volunteers to get your footage.
I am a good candidate for MX. I can give a good view of all the trike battles out in front since I'm always at the back of the pack.

I'll mount it to the forks looking down at the front wheel. Problem solved.
Edit: I just realized you're in Florida. If you're talking about the vids Curtis filmed you've probably seen a vid of me on the wrong two wheels also. I haven't even seen that footage myself yet. :(

Monroe Mike,
The video was taken at Wayne National Forest atv trails in southern Ohio it's near Athens. From Monroe Mi. it would be 4-4.5 hours drive, but worth it IMO. It is by far the best place in Ohio that I have ridden. The place has over 70 miles of marked trails of all different degrees of dificulty. The only place that I like more than Wayne is West Virginia's Hatfield & Mc Coy trails.

How would it work on my rigid framed 200?
factoryX
05-01-2009, 02:53 AM
I don't think it would work out, unless you where riding on the street. I was just asking where you mounted the camera, I knew it was somewhere up there, I sure did not need the negative thumbs down someone gave me...

I dont know why somebody gave you a negative thumbs down but i brought it back up for you:beer
As far as mounting it on a rigid frame it might work ok. The terrain that I was riding was very rough and it doesn't really show in the video. The camera has some amazing stabilizing abillities, because if that was a regular video cam it would have made you sick watching it from all the bouncing and vibrating.

Here is the one that I just bought, brand new off of a friend, never used. I had no idea that it took such good video. Thanks for the reassurance.. Looks to be the same model

The only thing that it doesn't come with is the memory card
It's also pretty cool how it is totally waterproof

Tank, Is that the Hero or the Hero WIDE? The original had a 90 degree lens. The new wide version has a 170 degree lens.

It appears to be the Helmet HERO, quick release video camera, that's all it says on the box

The camera that I used was a hero "wide" so your camera will have a narrower field of view than the video that I shot. Still very cool, it will probably make it appear that you are going really fast.

Tim, I am super stoked about the video camera. The holeshot should be freakin' awsome. Mud, 2stroke smoke, and rocks getting chucked at the camera in that first turn:Bounce :Bounce :Bounce Corbin usually finishes in 3rd or 4th so the B class video should be pretty good. Who finishes 3rd and 4th in the A class usually or where would there be a lot of back and forth battling:confused:

That's about where I finish normally - although - it changes from race to race - for everyone :)
How does that camera mount?

I just zip tied it onto my headlight gaurd. If you have room 3-4" on your handlebars that will work. I just looked at a picture of your 450. I think mounting it to your crossbar pad on your bars will work the best.
