Well we picked up a 1985 KLT250 that was setting for a while. We pulled the carb and cleaned it real good and put in fresh gas. It runs good for about a minute until it starts warming up then it wont rev, the warmer it gets the less it will rev. So we pulled the carb and went through it agian, it was spotless. Changed plug and it still the same. If it cools down it runs good, as soon as it gets heat it wont rev at all but will idle great. I put on a timing light to check the spark while it was cutting out and sure 'nuff it misses real bad when its cutting out. So its definatly ignition. I pulled the engine side cover off and found out that the charging coil (stator) is destroyed and all the magnetic material is everywhere. Im thinking that the magnetic material is on the pulse coil pick up causing it to screw up. I dont want to put it all back together with all this magnetic material in there. How do I remove the flywheel rotor?
Any recommendations on getting all this material out?
I can not find much info on this bike.
Does the rotor or the stator have the magnets attached to it?
Where can I get a wiring diagram?
Any help is appreciated
THANKS!
