Hill shooting question:

I have a 1986 250R with a Paul Turner High Rev pipe (PTHR) and porting, 39mm carb, 20" x 11" x 10" Skat Track paddles wih a 2" extended swing arm, weight 185lbs...

What is the best gearing for hill shooting like at Dumont or Glamis Competion Hill ??? I am guessing 13/38 or 13/39 or can I go 14/39? with the PTHR pipe, I don't want to bog the 250R down...

If its anything like the sand at Silver Lake you'll be amazed at how much drag it puts on the machine. I'd say go with stock gearing or maybe the 38 rear, I wouldn't try the 14 front I don't think.

Don't bother with the 14. I tried it and hated it. A lot of guys go bigger on the rear sprocket by a couple teeth. I personally like stock and 13/38 the best out of everything I've tried. I even ran a 12 tooth front once and hated that too.

I could still pull 4th up Olds with the 14 front but I didn't like the way the bike felt when cruising the bowls with it. Getting off the line with that sprocket and the stock swinger was a little tricky too. I was running the 14 in this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7wvi4Ct1Gw) (first trike in the vid).
