I took the timing inspection cover off when i pull the recoil nothing moves but i can hear the motor turning. Which is making it tough to line the marks up. Am i mentally challenged? 84 200ES big red i am hoping i am either blind or it has something to do with the electric start.

If the engine is turning over you should be able to see the flywheel turning through that peep hole. Maybe you're just not noticing it?

You have to catch it at the right angle, get a flashlight, and put your eyes in there!

Are you talking about the big plug with a slotted head or the cover from the side of the head?

I couldn't see the mark with a trouble light so i took the advice from a previous post snagged a flashlight and got my eyes in there. I found it and adjusted the valves to what the service manual says. I still have excessive noise from the top end, what else could it be?

I bought a 200s for a friend as a wedding present. It has amazing power, motor is quiet and this is what caused me to dig into my 200ES. I assume it's the same motor it should make the same power.

Not sure what else i can do, hopefully someone has some insight into this

mine is very noisy as well, I cannot get my valves adjusted to spec either and my top end is noisy. make sure your cam chain tensioner is adjusted properly

your cam chain and tensioneer and guide needs to be changed. requires removing top end to do all that. may as well do a top end refresh.
