Did you guys really think I built a track in my backyard for a 250SX?? Well, in a way - I did, but I finally found a sweet 85 250R to restore which is much more suited for the MX track. Just in time as the 85 SX has a broken frame at the shock mount - oops, must've been the double jump.
Anyhow this thing is bone stock down to the grips, sprockets and tires. Look at the (lack of) wear on the engine case. Doesn't look like the top end ever had a wrench on it either. Its's been stored inside a heated garage since 1990. I promise to continue to love and cherish the SX but please forgive me in advance for all the questions I'm sure to post on the 250R - it's an entirely different animal.

Nice R!! Let me give you some advice. Before riding it much get yourself a case saver for the chain. If you spend $50 on one consider it cheap insurance. 1 busted case will cost a lot more than that to fix.

Why do the 250r's need the case saver and something like a 200x doesn't have one available? Just wondering, Thanks
Where's the chain? And the plastics? How much did you pick it up for?

The 200x's had a chain guard that had a built in case saver sorta thing. The 250r's had a light weight chain guard that only protected you during normal use.

Howdy, Im gonna tear it apart and grease it just for starters so I have awhile before I ride. I'll need a bunch of parts also, but is that guard really 50$ I thought there was a metal strip under that guard to help but let me guess it's not beefy enough is it?
Someone pirated the plastic years ago and the chain was rusty and useless. Look at the thing I couldn't have cared if ht tires and front end werw gone - the main stuff is there and nice.

I traded the KDX200 for it :-D And before anyone calls the guy nuts, call him a generous person - he wanted a dirtbike not a 3whlr and didn't want to let this go to anyone that would part it out. Maybe he read some of my posts and decide that I would take good care of it - I will!

I don't think they run $50 I just threw that figure out there as a example. But if the 250r was mine I would look around for a good reasonably priced chain guard. If it ended up being $50 I would still get it. ;)

Got mine last week, Nice bike, with new fenders, your 250R will look just as nice as mine, except yours will look more authentic with your red tank, gold swinger and gold rims.
The guys that own the trike before me says he pays 1400$ canadian, for a brand new Honda rear fender. That's insane for a piece of plastic......
