i flooded out in a creek due to gas overflow and not the water + i was close to hip deep ( as your sitting on the trike ).
be sure to keep the fluids changed matt,,, the water is real hard on the innards !

There's an article by 3 whl whatever that says the Hondas are like submarines and they are. However, I must warn you as John has - although they go through 2 feet of water - unless you've torn it down and inspected all the seals and bearings and greased it , trust me water is not a good thing. The seals and the journals they seal must be in very good shape and all the oils and grease spots must be done also. Or one day you will lose a swingarm pivot, differential, axle splines, driveshaft etc. The pic below is just the 85SX swingarm - the diff and driveshaft were even worse. It ran and sounded great but was all ready to die.

I had a little Honda MT50, That would go up to the carb in water before it stopped, only because it had no air box or filter, it had no cover over the flywheel so the points must have been under water too, never stopped!
My 1979 Yamaha TY250 was also excellent in water, in fact my mates 1997 Beta 250 REV3 stopped before the Yamaha when in deep water!
The don't make them like that any more.

I have my 185s set up with a nice pair of Super Swampers ... The trails around here are nothing but mud and water. With the exception of getting high-centered once in a while the trike goes through as much as my '03 kodiack 450 with the differential lock... which I must add .. is quite impressive... One major advantage to the trike ... they float when you get off. Often I'll pull it off where I'm high-centered and ride it through the rest of the mudhole.
I clean my machine more than I ride due to all the mud and water... It does take it's toll. Be sure your chain guard and brake drums are clean or your asking for problems in the near future (learned the hard way).
The 185s has no suspension.. so its one less thing to worry about after a mud ride.

1984 big red. damn near unstoppable. This thing has been through lots and lots of river water, and yes too much water and sand and everything will go downhill fast. rear bearings are shot the rear brakes all seemed to have dissappeared. still runs and drives though. and its water days are not over yet. which reminds me I should probably change the fluids in it , or its days really will be numbered.
