Yamha Tri-Z proof of manufacture year

I have completed a rebuild of a Tri-Z Red/White 1986 also making it road legal for the UK, and now wish to register it for the road. I need documented proof of the year of manufacture, this will allow me to have a year related license plate here in the UK. I have contacted Yamaha direct, but they say "because of the safety issues with this model", they will not give me the required documentation. Any ideas??

I just tried it and it does indeed work, I typed in a vin# from one of my bikes and it came up perfect, make, model, country of origin, and how many cyliders
