Tri Z big carb

Ok so I put a 38mm mikuni off of an 1985 YZ250 with the wrench report specs. Problem is they dont mention that the stock cable wont work its too short. Does anyone have a suggestion. Also having a hard time finding the 6F45 needle. I have a 6F4 in it now. Does anyone know the difference between them?

83 250 R cable ..you will need a threded throttle houseing.. not the stock 85 throttle.. you can run a tap down in the houseing and use the 85 throttle only then.

Well I work at a dealership an did some checking in our oem yamaha cables. I found a perfect match part # 52H-26311-00-00. It fits a 1985 YFM80 with no mods to the throttle housing an using the stock carb cap elbow. Im still wondering about that needle if anyone knows what the difference is.

does it open the carb all the way? is it a threded end cable?

Yes it opens all the way has carb cap adjuster off the elbow and an inline adjuster the cable end is just like the stock 1985 YTZ cable end and slides into the stock housing. So no thread tapping is required to the stock throttle housing.

So does anyone have an idea on what the difference on a 6F4 needle is and 6F45? The bike seems to be ok on the bottom but runs rich in the top end but lean in the middle... Clip is all the way at the bottom still chasing my tail on this thing

I have the same info in my books at work from Sudco and WPS. The problem is I cant find out what that damn 6F45-3 has for dimesions... Speed an sport has a few in stock but they come with the clip and the cable holder which I dont need plus they are wayyyyy over priced at $57.95 plus shipping. It would just be easier to find one that is really close from one of my suppliers an get it for like $7.95...

guess you just got too poke around till you find somewhere thats not going to gouge your eyes out ..$$$
