To ride without a pipe? I just lost mine somewhere today and I had plans to go riding tomorrow but I don't know how bad it would be without my pipe.

No back pressure and an overly lean condition will not be good things for your motor.

It was a Cobra, I didn't really notice a sound difference...

Yeah I guess those are pretty loud. I think the general consensus you are going to get is that it will be no good for your engine.

not to mention all the people you will annoy with it being so loud. That is one of the biggest complaints form the anti-ATV crowd - Noise Factor. You would just be fueling the fire.

Yep, looks like I'm gonna buy a pipe then...almost out of $$$

How far did you ride? There is no chance of you going back and finding it?

I know it's bad for a 2 stroke. It will warp the head. I would have to guess
it is bad for a 4 stroke also.

It wil burn up your exaust valve(s). Go find it or buy another one.

I only rode about 5 miles so I just walked back and forth a couple of times looking for it but no luck. I guess I'm not gonna be riding this weekend after all.

If the head pipe is there and it's just the rear "stinger" portion of the exhaust, AND it's a 4 stroke... You can technically get away with it.

However, as mentioned, it really annoys people and fuels the "ATV's are bad mmmkay?" thing. Unless you are way way way out in the sticks where no one is going to hear it I'd find a stinger for it before going out.

A stock one should be practically free I bet, no one wants them.

Good luck!

Not only the fact that it can damage your engine, but it's also illegal in some states too.

If its just the silencer, run it. I've done it amny times. Heck, i ran a XR for 2 years without one. As long as you arent already on the edge of running lean, you'll be fine.

uh, you are going to warp your head if you ride your 2 stroke with out a silencer??? thats why drag 2-stroke pipes don't have silencers...right?

My 110's cobra pipe is pretty damn loud, I am not supprised you did not notice. Sucks dude. But next time, be sure you secure the silencer and check the bolts on the bike every couple of months. Things can get to wiggling loose

If you lost your pipe stop running it now to avoid damage and pray you haven't damaged it already (valves especially) if it just the silencer the only thing that will do is annoy everyone with the noise and do no harm to your engine. But if it's the pipe itself, you must get one before riding again. There needs to be some back pressure there. It may not die the first few time you ride it without a pipe but it is inevitable.

Don't worry Goat I found it. I literally walked the whole 5 or 6 miles I went riding 3 times and searched until i found it. I was wondering how long it would take you to find this thread but its all good now.

lol I'm just glad it was found. a crate will be headed your way as soon as I pay off the gas card. 8 or 10 tanks of gas was a little much.
