FINALLY got a tri z 250. I have wanted one forever, and finally here it is. I picked it up last night. From what I can tell, it is very close to complete. The cases will need to be replaces, along with a new connecting rod and crank shaft. The connecting rod snaped when the engine was running. YIKES!!! I bet nobody on here can beat this deal. $100 !!!! Check it out!!!! http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/rvs/1108079994.html
its the deal I have always been looking for. I plan on fixing the motor, sanding the plastics, painting the frame, and making it a nice rider. I would like to try the wrench report mods to it also to mike it a little zingier. what do you guys think? As soon as I saw it I was out the door. it was a couple hunderd miles total, and I picked it up in my car and disassembled it and stuffed it in there. I also have a huge plastic tub full of the rest of the parts, and exhaust. It even has brand new rear tires. Im sure there are things missing, but I havnt gone through it yet, so we will see.

Now I have the cheapest 84 tecate (running too, $40,) and Tri Z $100 WOW SWEET DEAL HUH

It was a roller but is still dissembled from when I took it apart so it would fit in my car. I plan on repainting the frame and checking everything over, then start looking for motor parts. The main part I noticed missing so far it the swing arm pivot bolt.................

Tri z 250, i plan on setting it up leaning more towards mx, or cross country actually. What is all involved in the big bore job parts wise? I think im going to put a warrior shock on right away, as the stocker has some rust on the shaft. What about the YZ 250's? What year cranks will work? Would the bottom ends be similar also? Thanks a bunch.

Wow A True Beater...

Take your time, Look's like you'll need a complete top-to bottom Build on the Motor $$$

Not so mucha beater, more like neglected after the motor failed.

I started working on it today. I got it all stripped down, and had my brother help me repaint the frame yellow, it looks great so far. We primed it and used the spray paint Diamond Vogel yellow. It will also be clear coated. Im off to a good start anyways, and want it to look decent when finished. Anyone have advice for the rear shock? Whats the best one to use that will fit it with the littlest effort? (warrior, banshee, blaster????) Is the warrior shock stiffer than the Z stocker?? Thanks for all the input so far. I will try to get some pics as I go along.

I've been working on making the tri z look good, and checkingeverything over as I go. I sanded the plastics, and ended up repainting the front and rear with yellow plastic paint. Im not a huge fan of painting plastics, but they sure look better than before. I plastic welded the rear fenders, as they were broken in 3 places, and missing chunks of plastic from two places. I used a spare yellow 225 dx shroud as the discetee. My first time welding plastic, but I have to say, I am impressed, and it will definatly hold! They dont look bad, but if you look close, you can see the welds. The frame is repainted, and I got the swingarm sanded and painted today (black). It definatly coming together, and looking good at the same time. I havnt ordered anything for it yet, and still need to find a motor or somthing, and swingarm bolt to make it a roller. Let me know what you think so far!! If anyone has advice or tips, feel free to chime in.:D 77107
