I was curious to know if the stator assembly on a 1985 ATC70 is the same as the CT70? I don't see a difference in them visually, but since the CT70 has a battery, I would guess they probably changed something.

Go to your local lawnmower shop and get an item called "universal ignition module" Dump the points and condensor mount this, and your done....Usually about $16. Mod, fix or what ever you want to call it....WELL WORTH IT!!! Sorry about the big bubble thing this pict was used in anther forum.....

How does that work? You don't even need the reluctor wheel or pickups anymore? Where does it pull the timing from?

My apologies that pict is a tad not accurate....Yes you do need the flywheel and the 2 copper wire thingy's. It pulls from the magnetics anything further then that I dont understand either....But all the blue light you see is crazy, coming out of the spark plug. This is what I gather, The chip reads the magnetics.....However I could be wrong...You get to keep your original wiring, IE lights and anything else. You will be cutting off condensor, but you just mount the copper wires together. What is awesome for me is I hate flyweels..I hope to never look at it again. But then I do have my own dreams. I apologize if this doesnt make sense, pehaps someone can explian better then I.....Very good luck

Oh yes before I forget, Before everyone starts pulling their points this only works on the little guys....therefore the 110 and 90 are NOT compatible.
