Why are the swingarm skid plates so rare on the 350x. Mine has an after market
skidplate on it and it hangs too low. I am looking for a stock one,but they are hard to find. I see them on ebay once in a while but always get outbid on them.

Did the stock ones just fall off alot?

I wouldn't say that they just fall off.... But Iwill say this, they aren't as durable as the aftermarket ones.. Not only that, The stock mounts don't take a good beating either.. But it all depends on what type of terrain you're riding on as well.. One good size rock or, a high set of train tracks, and your stock skidder will either be dragging your brake rotor, or chain.. been there, done that! lol

It seems like most of the 250r's I see still have the stock plate, but the 350x's
don't.

Maybe because the r's were used mosty on sand, the x's on the rougher stuff?

I've got a PRM too and can't find the right length bolts to mount it. If someone comes across them, let us know! Beets

You just need to measure how fat the skid plate is where the bolts go thru and add the length that threads into the swinger...

I chop those OEM mounts off and make my own out of .1875 plate.....

I chop those OEM mounts off and make my own out of .1875 plate.............. I was just trying to keep the old mount. I asked around about why I can't find longer bolts. The only person that could answer it was a millwright. Bolts don't hold well in that pitch. Maybe thats why I've lost 6 bolts, even after lockltight'n them in. Like you said, I'm just going to weld a plate in there and use locking nuts! DONE!...Beets

There 8x1.25 and maybe 25mm long?? I can't understand why someone would think that was too long too hold?

We have motor mounts that are 3" long....

I think it just takes a beating and works itself loose, may be something you have to tighten up once in a awhile.
