Hello all, I've torn my trike down after just a few months. Here is how it looked just a few days ago:

And here is how it looks now:

I had to chop the swingarm bolt out as the smoked bearings were the causing my chain to keep derailing. All of the bearings/seals could used updated though and I would prefer to buy Pivot Works bearing kits. I found a Pivot Works swingarm bearing kit, but when it comes to the carrier and linkage bearings it lists only for 86-89 TRX250R. Will these work in the ATC?
Thanks all...these forums have been a huge help.

All Balls also lists a different bearing kit for the quad than for the trike. If you go on servicehonda and look up all the individual parts it looks like they are all the same in Honda's catalog so I'd be willing to put money on it being OK. I think I used a Pivot Works kit when I re-did mine but that was almost 10 years ago and I can't remember. Try calling All Balls (number is in my T3 swingarm thread) and see what they say about what parts are different.

We'll see. Earlier today I ordered all 86 TRX250 Pivot works stuff from the swingarm back. When I looked at the diagrams I have to agree with you, it all looks the same. I can't see Honda, in 1986 making stuff just a little different between both models....it would have just driven costs up unnecessarily.

It doesn't just look the same. All the Honda part numbers ARE the same.

Wow, yeah, you are right. I noticed the swingarms are different part numbers so I didn't even think to look at bearings. Good I feel even better now about ordering the TRX stuff. Wonder why Pivot Works wouldn't want to cater to the ATC crowd too?

They might just be unaware of us.

Honda never seemed to worry about the cost.
One millimeter here, an oring there, always striving for perfection.......
Thats why they lasted 25yrs on the original motor :D
I sometimes look at the aftermarket stuff like Dennis Kirk or RMATV to see what swaps with what. Sometimes you find that a Yamaha Big Bear bearing fits your Honda.... You never know unless you measure both models and see what the difference is. As time goes by, if we have to turn something on a lathe 1MM smaller or open up a hole by 2mm then thats what it's gonna take to keep it rolling............
