Looking to buy a good compression tester for my trikes. Are there any that the crowd would recommend for my 70 clan or does it not matter? Give me some input,,,,,,,

The 70's have a really small spark plug hole. Make sure whichever one you get has the adapter for that small plug.

Also like with any instrument used to measure anything, you get what you pay for. Not saying that the most expensive is the most accurate but the least expensive is not going to be very accurate...

Definitely get a decent brand. You usually can't go wrong with Craftsman.

If you pay about 40$ for it - your fine....

But, like someone said above, many of them do not have the adapter for the smaller Honda powerplants.

Not trying to highjack your thread but, my compression tester doesn't have the adapter to fit in the hole for my 350X. Anybody know where I can buy the adapters?

The tester actually belongs to my dad and he has had it for many many years. So, I'm not sure where he got it. He's had it for maybe 20 years and it is a good quality tester.

I believe a standard automotive tester has 14mm and 18mm adapters.

The Honda 70 has a 10mm plug.

My Yamaha's and Honda (sig) have 12mm plugs.

Harbor Freight has one with 10, 12 and 14mm adapters for 17.99 (not sure of the quality).

Sears, 49.99, loaded with goodies.

Thanks for input. Will probably get the Harbor freight as I would not use it all that often? Maybe Craftsman if it has the 10mm adapter? Thanks all:beer

I have never seen a Honda spark plug with 10mm threads, think about the size of a 10mm wrench....

Me either, I saw it in the Honda 70/125 manual (with typo, should say "10mm on 70cc"). I also looked up the CR7HS spark plug, that the Honda 70 uses.

Plug Specifications

Thread Diameter - 10mm
Hex Size - 5/8'' (16mm)

I use the same one, but got mine from Autozone. I used it for my drag car now I use it for my trikes. anytime i touch a new trike, first thing I do is do the basic tests no matter what so I know where it stands.
