Wire wheel or 3M 3 or 4 inch grinding discs. (cookies) I use Hi-temp header paint on mine. I've heard BBQ paint will work too.

power wash it and then use a wire brush attatchment for a drill
then paint it with high temp spray paint. it is a little more expensive than regular paint but it wont stink as bad when it gets hot

i painted my dg pipe and headed with hi temp paint and it lasted about 1 min then bubbled up.the paint was dupli color, rated at 500 degress.i prep it right, wire wheel then 600 grit paper, wax and gease remover.still it bubbled up after about a minuted.

I use that for motors only. Headers can exceed 500 degrees easy. Dupli color makes Hi-Temp up to 1500 degrees. That's what I use.

Seedoo650, do i still need to use etch primper of something to keep the rust from coming back if i use the 1500 degree paint.

I did'nt. Sand or blast all the rust off. Eventually the paint will bake off and the rust will come back. I just do it every year. The other more expensive option it to have it done professionally with ceramic coat or jet hot.
