i got it running and now it doesnt have any spark i ran it today and when i shut it off i could get it to start again i check the spark and there is none so i put on a new spark plug and no spark how can i chek to find out if it is the coil that is messed up if i turn the lights on and pull the starter they start to light up so i figure it is getting electricity from the points or what ever. any help is apreciated!

The lighting is on a completely seperate system.
Start by checking the exciter coil. To do so: Take a ohm meter and test the black with red striped wire from the stator ( unplug it first ). Be sure you have one of the test leads on the motor and 1 to the connector. You should get a 215-240 ohm reading. If it's lower than 215 it will be harder to start.
If the exciter coil checks good, plug the wire back in and then disconnect the black with white striped wire behind the headlight and check for spark. If you have spark the kill switch isn't working properly.
