View Full Version : How do I start this yamaha 225 dx
I have a yamaha 225 dx and the ignition switch that you put the key into is ripped off the cord. Can anybody tell me how to bypass this problem and get it started?

Follow the wires down from the switch, it should just unplug if I'm remembering right.

So I can just unplug it and hit the start button and it will turn over?

unplug the connector under the tank and jump the red and brown wire , with a piece of wire, then tape it. you will have power and lights full time.
you will have to leave it in gear when your not in use or the neutral light will stay on.
use your RUN / OFF switch to kill the bike. and your electric start will work when you hit neutral.

now that will only get you power,, make shure you got a good battery and a clean carb,, drain the gas tank / fill with new .. ect,, get some one that knows about how to clean a carb to show you how to do it , you dont wat to mess something up , loose parts, bend the float...ect...
OR
take the carb off and I'll walk you through it .
