After an awesome week of riding in northern MN last September, I needed wheel bearings in my SX. As these things often do, it turned into a big ordeal, and I ended up needing a whole rear end. Replaced the final drive, axle, hubs, and bearings, and after six months without my favorite ride, it's back on the trail! :w00t:
Before I replaced the plastics a couple years ago, it had a rear rack, which I loved. But someone had hacked it and the rack was welded to the mounting brackets, making it impossible to put it back through the new fender. It *might* be repairable by taking it to my local welding shop and having him fix it, but is it worth it? I had decided it wasn't, and tried to buy a new one from a couple dealers who still had the SX rear rack listed on their websites, but everyone is out of stock. Can't get 'em. Does anyone have an SX rack they'd like to sell, or suggestions of a similar model that people have made to work?
I'm especially fond of the original rack, because it has a partial wrap-around rail that helps keep stuff from sliding off. Most of the ones I've seen have just the short railing in the back, which in my opinion isn't nearly as good.
