Well I picked up another trike today. I need an airfilter for it. All the dealer oem ones are about $70. Ive seen on ebay all the unifilters for this model. Do they fit in the air box? Or just attach to the carb directly?

Also is there any other matience I should do to this trike? Already did an oil change.

Manual? Is there an PDF of one online?

Thanks For the Help.

I had a UNI filter on my 82 that fit just like oem. I got it on eBay for around $25 shipped or so. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m37.l1313&satitle=185s+filter&category0=

For the manual I have yet to see one dedicated to just the 185s, but this Haynes one has a chapter at the end on the 185s/200:

there are both types. dont get any that says universal. i have a uni for my 81 185s
but i dont know the product #. so yeah there is one that works with the airbox for the early style airbox.

the ones for your 185s/200s (same filter) fit inside the airbox over the factory metal screened cyclinder in the airbox.

oh yeah? just to correct your statement. only the 81-82 185s have that air mesh screen you described. 83 185s &200s have different filter- no metal mesh screen in airbox. so theyre not the "same filter".

Thanks for clearing that up.

One more question. Old owner put 1 new tire on the rear. Its the same size as the others, but for some reason its alittle taller. Which causes the trike to pull on paved roads. Would this cause any drive train damage?

no, theres no tranaxle. no damage done. -missed your question bout maintenance. might want to install fuel filter to avoid clogged jets. no matter how clean your tank is.(3/16''). also very overlooked is oil rotor. on right side of motor (behind the big cover). you'd be surprised how much sediment gets trapped in it. (resembles hard clay about 1/8'' thick usually). easy job, but can screw it up if dont pay attention. remove right side motor cover (probably need new gasket if it breaks). then remove 3 bolts for oil rotor. remove rotor and big friction washer with it.-note washer is not flat & must be reinstaled facing same way. also washer must be centered on rotor precisely when reinstalling.

Thanks, I'll look into that once the weather clears up.

I'll probley just leave that new tire on it then.

Ordered the unifilter yesterday so that's taken care of.

weird, cause I got 2 in my garage and both have the screen. so does my 83 185s , and my 82 200e and so did the 84 200s I just sold. yours may not have it anymore, it may have had some screen at some point. I "thought" i saw on the oem online parts cataloge a screen shown.

If I'm wrong what's # 8 then? This was taken from a 1983 185s (no 200s in 83 only 84+ cause in 83 it was a straight 200)

look not trying to be a jerk here, but you seen to be posting some incorrect info and telling everyone else they are wrong. Before you do so again and tell me i'm wrong, please go read and confirm your statements with proof as I just posted. Your misleading readers. (yes i was told to confirm my statements with proff when requested so now if I can;t frind proof it's a i think or i'm not sure. if I knwo for certain and have proof, then it's it is this... helps to sort out the maybe stuff from known facts is all.

my bad, it does have the mesh screen, but it is different ,you said it was the same filter. thats all. i'm trying to help. i dont try to chime in if i dont know. unlike others who give clueless advice. so back off.-zppeacock has an 82 185s which is not the same box, mesh, or "filter" as 83 185s or 200s as you incorrectly stated. i didnt want him to assume its the same filter thats all.

I got it all sorted out last night, spent some time looking at diagrams.
