i found a guy 45 minutes from my house today that litterally has 500-2000 3 wheelers , parts are everywhere like a bomb went off. You name it he has it , now they aren't whole machines , just machines that i could buy and get some more stuff to make em whole. The place is a dump , and i am prolly going to go there again tonight or tommorow because they wheren't there earlier today , and i didn't want to walk around or trespass.

I am going to be looking for a 350x frame that has an engine in it , with a swingarm and axle . Anything else will be sweet.

How much do you think it would cost me to buy the frame with engine in it and a swingarm from this dumpyard place ?

it's not a buisness , he does it out of his house and works a day job.

he has 2 huge fields filled with stuff

i am also gonna see if i can find some OEM fenders and the rear garnish thing !!!:Bounce

Hard to say. Sometimes people think their junk is made of gold, other times they are more realistic. Too bad all those parts have been sitting outside for who knows how many years...

It is sad to see people with no intentions of ever using their bikes/parts leaving them to rust and rot just because they can't get a mint for them. If your not going to use something, why ruin it. Sell it for a fair price to someone that will bring it back to life.

The prices that some people think this stuff is worth is ridiculous. Honestly, in some areas your lucky to find a handfull of trike enthusiasts. Your not gonna be able to demand the prices people demand for dirt bikes and quads.

Thats the worst thing, when they leave them outside most of it is junk....

You won't find much good plastic.

But, the metal can be blasted and PC'd or plated so I'm sure there is plenty of good restorable stuff there

well i called him and talked to him , he said saturday is a good day to go out. Said he isn't looking to get rich , but i asked him if he had any 350x stuff and he said he has 1 or 2 frames with forks , doesn't know if the swingarms are there or not , prolly looking to get a few hundred dollars. Now that seems kinda expensive , i mean he said he knows he doesn't have any engines. What do ya think ?

I don't know if a bunch of busted up and rusted up trikes in a field is the holy grail. I might consider it a decent find, but most of the time, it's just a bunch of busted up junk. Best of luck and I hope you get your 350x parts, but I wouldn't get too worked up over it. Sometimes a bargain is no bargain at all.

I agree dont get worked up whenever he offers you a price go lower and lower! take it from a salesman he wants your money any way he can dont get excited when you see something you want either play it cool and just remember why its there!!! IF and WHEN you take something home you will find something you didnt see when you were there! happens all the time when your caught in the moment!! i would make several trips and dont overpay on an impulse buy!! think smart and you will end up ok! believe me i know all about finding a parts lot! i have as well and the person thinks he has gold!! when he sees my machines he always offers me little money but says there in great shape but dangerous then when i look in the piles of parts and find something i need he always wants a trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro ton! so not worth the hassle so i use flea bay and here.

I'll take those two recent "Old school privateer trikes" over a whole field of sitting rust anyday!!

:D All ya can do is pick through it and see whats good! It's a great resource regardless ) unless he's a Scrooge.....

Be warned as when they usually say the ebay crap, they are wanting bank for it. I have seen it alll too many times. I met a dude just like that, and he was quoting me egay prices. I said well then get selling on there cuz I wont buy.

factoryX
03-19-2009, 07:17 PM
also, when thay bring up the ebay prices, ask them why they have not sold it yet? and why he has a entire field of parts that are apparentlly worth a fortune, sitting there rotting away for the last 10 years?

Hoosier_Daddy
03-19-2009, 07:45 PM
There is a guy in this area that has a barn full of parts and he is the same way. He admitted he knows ebay prices and when you ask him how much he wants for something, it's a ridiculous price.

ATCeeya
03-19-2009, 07:49 PM
agreed nothing worse than people who quote ebay prices. yet they dont want to do the work involved in taking pics, listing the item, shipping it etc. while getting out of paying all the fees associated with ebay. doesnt work that way.

Your going to get less selling locally usually. thats the way it works. I definately wouldnt pay a few hundred for a frame and forks.

hahaha, sounds alot like the guy i know. his place doesnt happen to be in like sloansville or something like that is it? his name doesnt happen to be doug bull by any chance is it? lol, if so, watch out, nice guy to chat with and browse, but his is way steep on his prices. i wanted to get a 200x frame off him, mind you not even a roller, just frame, forks, and swinger... all were rusted and left for dead, and he still wanted 300 bucks. tryed dickering him, and he thru in the "i know what these things can go for on ebay" quote, and i told him well have fun paying the ebay fees then and finding someone to buy a rusted beat up left over frame for 300, lol!!!!

If this is the guy by dekalb becareful he screwed me out of a snowmobile clutch that was froze on the crank ... his son sold it to me and "didn't know wich puller to use" I took it to a sled mechanic to get it pulled and it wouldn't budge so I went back and he said no refunds!!!!! be careful

ThinktwiceZ71
03-19-2009, 10:10 PM
yeah i don't think i am going to be going that route after all . I am going to get a whole rear end from a guy on here , and then buy a frame off ebay. Then i'll spend the most money and buy really good cases on ebay and go from there. I am going to do a whole resto this summer on it , i just need the parts to get it started. I'll have a welder friend of mine reinforce the frame and have it sent out to get powdercoated.

Don't forget that ebay includes time to list, and answer questions, as well as pack and ship. Plus when ever something goes for more than it's worth, usually they don't pay, and you have to relist it again.

I would still like to just see pics of this place for kicks. Also i would still try and talk to him. He might sound like he knows what he is talking about but when you, someone who eats, sleeps and breathes trikes, talks to him, he might realize he doesnt know chit and you could possibly talk him down. I had a guy like that once....

....and THAT'S why the stuff is still sitting there. Been there...done that w/the vintage snowmobile world of parts chassing.

Few more years and scap metal prices will bring more $$$ than what's sitting there's worth for trike parts.
