I totally rebuilt my 85 200s engine, rebuilt carb, I bought a new maier rear fender for it , new brake levers , new throttle cable , new brake cables, and new kenda bear claw tires for it. It runs like a top and is fun to ride. I have wanted a 350x and I found a guy that is selling a 86 350x that has some cracks in plastics, and is missing the carb. He said it needs a piston and rings but ran good 3 years ago when he parked it. I contacted him about the trade and he got back to me saying he would probly do it. So would you trade something you got $700-750 into that runs great for something that doesn't run at all and you will have to put prolly 500 more into ? I have wanted to get a 350x I just don't want to get screwed
sounds like the 350x is a $250 trike I would trade with money from him on top only

I know Id sure go for it!! Im way too big for the 200's anymore, plus that lack of rear suspension doesnt help. If I was you Id have a 350x sitting in my driveway before the guy could change his mind!!

lol yeah i know , i am wayyyyy to big for the 200s , i mean trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro i am 250lbs , it's fun to ride but i look like a gorilla trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotr ailpro a football , lol , plus the 350x would be awesome with the suspension and alot more power . I would rebuild the whole thing to mint condition. I emailed him to ask if he would take cash , or a rifle for trade

Famous words
I would either do like sykolincoln said or sell the 200s outright for what it is worth and then use some of that cash to buy the 350x.
At least post some pics of each for us to tear apart lol.

that X might be gone if you squat on it too long. Trying to sell your 200s might take awhile and what you gunna get for it anyways? Id probably trade plus its an 86 which is schweeeet

I'd be careful though. I'd see what he'd want for it with $$$. I'd hate to trade my All-Done-Up trike for another that needs all kinds of work. Unless, of course, you're prepared for it. I'd just hate to be kicking myself later on. Once again, see what he wants for it outright first. Can't blame you though for wanting an X. I picked one up in December and can't wait to get it out. Sweet Trike it is. Good luck.

I would be concerned about if the 350x would run or not. You won't know what you are buying without the carb to see if it fires up. You can always spray some starting fluid down the intake and see if it tries to run at least. Make sure you check the engine oil before you do this. You might just be picking up someone elses nightmare. 350x or not, be careful of what you are buying, you may end up getting the worst end of the deal. And it would be a shame to get rid of the trike you just ended up putting all that work into and buying a non running lemon. It's your trike and money and time though. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

I would just figure the whole X motor needs rebuilt.
Has it sat outsdide without the carb?
Has it been covered?
He says it needs a topend?
You can score a decent X for just over a grand. Think about that while you ad up how much it will cost to get that 350x to your standards.
