wondering if anybody has seen this type of ignition for an 85 tecate. It had water in it when i took it apart. Also wondering if anyone repairs these. the coil looks stock but am not sure, thanks

It looks like a PVL to me. Can you post a pic of the flywheel?

i dont think it is it doesnt say pvl anywhere . people at penton said it would.

It looks a lot like my PVL on my R but I'd need to see the ignition box and flywheel.

It's an internal rotor design, like a PVL or Motoplat, so that knocks out the KX ignition-idea.

The coil looks stock though. Here is a picture of my motoplat coil

The coil looks stock....agreed, but the plate/parts on the plate are definitely not Kawasaki OEM parts. There's no room around the parts on the plate for the flywheel to spin, so it has to be internal rotor like a Motoplat or PVL.
