OK here's the Skinny. I have both an '73 and '74 KO /ATC 70's that need to be both gone through. Now as far as the motor's both go,they will be taken all the way down and rebuilt, and everything replaced accordingly.Chasis wise they are pretty much in the same condition, all orginal on both except for the seat cover on the '73 - but the fender's are still in very nice even glossy condition.Heck on the '74 the rear decals are partialy still on there still. So my question is? Which machine would you all rather see restored and which one would you rather see left original?

Now before you all get on my case about just restoring both of them and being done with it,let me say that I DO want to keep one still orginal or at least as close to OEM as possible. I figure between both machine's I have enough part's that are still in nice enough condition to keep one completely orginal or at least close to it.I know I started a thread on older 70's last year but i'd like to see some more pic's of the orginal and restored '73 and '74 70 model's.I don't know I'm kinda leaning toward's restoring the '74 which is the red one just because ,but then again I'd like to see the '73 all done up.What would you guy's doo?

It seem's to me that there are more of the orange one's around than the red one's,what one do you guy's see more of ? Post up some pic's of those 70's for me and shoot me your opinion's.http://i362.photobucket.com/albums/oo64/sandpuppi101/100_7911.jpg

I myself am slowly going threw the process of collecting parts for the 74 atc70 now. That was the year I was born.So I wanted a 3 wheeler of that time period.Scottzj hooked me up.From what I have been told so far. Those 2 years are the hardest to find parts for.Thats why my build is slow going. There are some parts on evil-bay right now.I sold some high price item on ebay myselfs. So I plan to spend big tonight in hopes of getting a few parts I am missing.

I do like the 73 with the flames... These are some tough decisions we get our selves into!!

I have two 73's and boxs of NOS parts that I have been collecting for years to do a restore on the one. The other will get customized. The one I have was my first 70 (my first trike was an ATC90) but that 70 was a pit bike and yard beater for years until my kids started to learn haow to ride on it. Then I rellized they were collectable and hard to find parts for. I would love to do a 74 also because there seem to be less of them. I would do the 74 because it is more rare then the 73 (that sounds funny"more rare") but it is. And yes parts are hard to come by at a reasonable price.

LOL,that's what I was thinking too.It sure seem's too me that i've seen more of the orange flamed '73 model's than the '74 models. That's cool you have a couple of 'em also.Thank god I don't need a bunch of part's for these machine's,heck I think all I really need are some nice airboxe's..Hopefully

I ment I see more 73s then 74s and they did not sell a 75 model in the US that I know of. If you have a 75 brochure post a pic I don't have one but if there is one I need if for the collection. I have a 73 Australian brochure.

Here is a picture of my 73 that I have just recently disassembled. I hope to have it back together in time for Sandpuppies Ride at Rose City in August. I have a not determined what all I need but it looks to be pretty complete. My main question is what is the Honda code for the orange paint? I have the recoil and the left side cover.

I have yet to see a real nice 74 restoration I might have one lined up for later in the year , I have done I think 7 complete 73 ATCs for various people including the honda museam they are just way cool as far as the colors and geaphics next to the us90 one of my favorites. I attached some pics of some of mine i have done , the finished picture is the one i did for japan on display . yes the parts are almost extinct for these bikes but if you get a fairly complete one most of everything can be restored , I have over the last 2 years invested alot of money into reproducing alot of ATC parts mainly us90 stuff but I have done some early ATC70 parts , I have complete cables sets now avalible that are 100% perfect to oem no more running the wrong black cable . I have every decal for the 73 and 74 , I use andrew hymans fenders for all my restos they are perfect he has the red or orange avalible. the hardest parts to find on these are mufflers, grab bars , and bash plates under the chassis besides those parts the rest are not too bad .

Way nice machine's there Mike, absolutley beautiful .. You say that you've done 7 complete 73 ATC's including the Honda museum. Now my question to you is have you ever restored a '74 and what's your thought on the rareity of those ? Also seeing as these '74 are obviously more rare as I'm quickly finding out here, anybody have lead's on Decal's for the '74 model's.Mike do you have those decals? I've seen the '73's up for sale but not '74's..Getting excited to start these project's,I can see this is gonna be fun already..

nope, never have done an 74 , I do have one lined up in the near future though . you should do the 74 would be nice to see one of those all nice and pretty. I will have the 74 atc70 decals first week in april getting made now I will have the tank and rear fenders the rest are the same as the 73 as far as warning decals etc . give you a little trick also the early honda hardtail 50 seats are identical to these less the pan so if you have a good pan just get it all cleaned up painted and buy a new seat right from honda and swap the foam and cover over works mint , perfect oem honda material fit and finish . and andrews fenders are real nice he has the 74 color also . lets see it happen would be cool Mike
