Hi everybody I'm wonderin a couple things.

I have a 1983 atc 185s, never been rebuilt, has a jardine exhaust and is jetted one size above stock.

What octane gas do you think I should run?

When I rev my atc open throttle, it doesn't bog or stall or anything, does that mean it is jetted right?, it runs very good with my current setup.

I have the usual timing chain noise, not horrible but noticable, should I do anything about it or leave it alone?

If I got a K&N airfilter for it or maybe a UNI air filter would I have to jet it another size up becuase I would increase airflow with the filter?

Any help would be appreciated!!

I have the stock jet in my 83 185s. I added a uni air filter and messed with the mix and it runs excellent.

A stock 185s motor is low compression. Just run 78 octane gas.

topless i think that's not totally accurate what your stating.

the 185s has 9:1 compression but if he's wanting a buit more it does NOT hurt to run super unleaded. the higher octaine will help it out in the performance issue and help to keep the motor a bit cleaner. running a stocker 185s if it's working fine, why change it? the 1 jet size was probebly because of the exhaust. if you add a better filter jsut adjust the mixture screw about 1/4 turn out is all I would do.
