whats the best way to get scratches out of fenders and make them shine again?:wondering

200 grit sandpaper then finer then finer then finer and so on and so fourth

should I wet it down a little? What about steel wool?

Thanks man that was helpful! I got a set of 83 200x fenders off ebay that looked gr8 in the pictures w factory stickers and all but when I got them they were scuffed bad all over.
