I bet if you were creative enough, you could fab up some motor mounts and stick that engine in the frame without too much work. Biggest part would be coming up with the exhaust/electronics that go with that motor. Either that or throw it up on Craigslist or the classifieds here and get some money back to put towards a Tecate engine.

Tecate 50

Well if he doesnt pick-up.....just sell it! There are tons of Tecate powerplants still available out there. You got a good start. I started with an 85 frame only with no front end. Goats will eat anything won't they.....

I don`t think you got f******

roller looks to be in decent shape overall

wheels look nice...tires still got life on them

the spray painted plastics will clean up to original pretty well with some work...plastic and spray paint will seperate without much effort

the motor might fetch you $100 if it has compression and turns over as long as you look for the right customer...google AHRMA vintage motocross and related sites and hit the classifieds in those type forums with it and those fellas like vintage dirtbikes and building, riding, racing them as much as we all like trikes...Ebay is also an option but biz there is slow for bike stuff right now and they keep raising their fees eating up yer profit

even if you got 50$ fer the 175, that makes the roller still worth 350$ IMO

I have had more than one trike that started out looking WAY worse than what you got for about the same amount of cash...it all depends on how bad you wanted a Tecate and how much you had to spend to get what ya got...I`d say you done OK

My woman tells me that as long as she`s known me, Ive done nothing but put stuff together from scratch..."just like that Johnny Cash song about gettin a Cadillac One Peice at a Time"

I say it`s better to start with a worn out, beat up, tired, old, heap of scrap and return it to it`s former glory than to buy a showroom queen...seems like it has more character when it`s been abused

on the other hand, I`ve bought some "restored" and "rebuilt" machines that were nothing more than wiped-down, repainted,re-tired touchup jobs which required total rebuilds on frontends, new bearings that were installed incorrectly and ruined in the process, new seals that got torn when installed, worng sized new seals installed, critical mounts were chopped off frames before that new paint job...you name it

"needs work" is better....at least you know what to expect...and if yer a decent wrench, you`ll feel more at peace KNOWING you serviced the whole thing

The only person that f#$%^ed you is the idiot that painted the plastics and the tank.

Someone, somewhere needs that motor with out a doubt.
