Went and looked at an 1984-85 Tecate. Been sitting 2 years. Has spark, didn't start though. Looks to be dirty, stock, and complete. They're asking $500.
Please let me know what you guys think.

I'd snag it. If it turns out to be a lemon, part it out. '84 or '85? Disc or drum front brake?

I paid $300 for my '84 with a bad flywheel, bad suspension, and a bent axle...

Yeah, I'd agree to go ahead and get it. What kind of condition is it in overall? Is it complete? parts missing here and there?

Here is a link to the Tecate. Said they got it running today with some fresh gas. They're delivering it tomorrow for the sum of $375.

That's awesome. I'm jealous. It looks like it's an '84. Great shape too. I have seen some nasty farm rotten t3's go for more.

Yep. Good deal. 1984. Has the right parts. OEM rear plastic. Headlight is there and complete. You did pretty good on it.
Keep in mind though, here in the midwest, trikes aren't going for near as much as they are on the coasts right now. So, as long as you don't expect to turn it around to make a big profit you'll be happy. If you want to get it running and ride it, you're going to enjoy the power. Have fun beating your friends in a drag race.:naughty:

Looks like a nice buy to me, post some pics once you get it home. The fact that they got it running makes it even better too...

Hey, looks pretty dang good for 500 bucks. I wish we had those kinda deals here in the west. One like that would cost 1500 here

Hey guys. Guy delivered the tecate this morning. I started to tear it down. I'm totally new to the tecats, did it come stock with the mikuni? I'm giving it a cleaning, and probably a rebuild. Does anyone run these without the airbox? Seems tough to get out of there, just say that since I was thinking of taking it off.
Pics will come, need to borrow a camera.

Yes, it came with a round slide Mikuni stock. Running an airbox is a personal decision. Some do, some don't. It all depends on how much you like mud and water. It looks really good. Congratulations
