1.began by removing the right side case and the valve cover.
i used a 185s valve cover because of the decompression lever.
2.take valve cover cut the middle fin flush.i used a cut off blade on a dremel.then
use a sanding wheel to smooth where u cut.
3.take valve cover and set it on a flat surface with timing mark to your letf.take a measuring tape and measure left to right 6. 5 mm to where the fin used to be.find center and make a mark with a punch for your drill bit.i used a small bit to drill through then i used a larger bit to make the finial hole.(need sizes pm me)
4.take tap run it through whole, get your fittings(i used 1/8 fittings) and see if they screw down correctlly.i had to slightly sand down the first fin in the middle so that the fitting would screw down enough.
5.take right side case, stand it up so that the oil stick is on your left.take measuring tape and measure left to right 3.5 mm,find center and make a mark for the punch.
6.take a small bit and drill down 1/2 inch, then take a larger bit, same one you used earlier and drill down 3/8.
7.tap hole and see if fitting screws down correctly

8.take right side case and valve cover and put back on engine.
9.screw fittings in place, look at pictures for correct placement.
10.take you tubing and run it from the right side case to the valve cover.take tubing and bend where necessary.
11.remove fittings and add lock tight to them, quickly place fittings back into the holes u tapped, screw tubing back in place.let lock tight dry over night.your ready to ride.

the reason for this mod is because the 200x doesnt get enough oil to the head when riding up steep hills, the mod will take a little amount of oil from the bottem end and place it right over the camshaft so that it doesnt seize up.the tubing has to be really small for this to work,no larger than 1/8 o.d.

pm me if you have any question, and sorry if i left alot out.

Very cool, I never knew 200x's have that problem.

Cool that more people are doing this mod, looks very well executed and you took your time thinking things over.

Sadly though, this will not provide more oil when going uphill. The reason these engines dont get enough oil on an incline is because the oil pump is in the front of the motor, while the oil falls to the back. Adding an extra line wont help the head get more oil if the pump cant reach the oil in the first place.

what makes you think it will pump oil up to the cam? the oil pressure is going in the opposite direction,at the pump
nice idea, it came on the 350 lol

Tapping the fitting into the top like that will probably cause problems. The oil is meant to be pumped into the end of the cam. The cam itself fills with oil and is dispursed into the journels at each end of the cam and also the rockers through holes in the cam itself. Letting the oil run down onto the rockers might be OK but having no pressure to the journels will cause problems as the cam runs on a film of pressurised oil. The correct way to do the bypass is to tap into the side of the rocker cover at the cam little end.

in my book it doesnt hurt to try something new.if the mod doesnt work, then lesson learned.we will see when ever i get it back ruuning.

It's great that your trying something.

But, I must agree with GH.... They design oil to run a certain path for specific reasons. As an example, the 86 200X has 2 metering oil orifices that must be in place or another part suffers from the lack of oil pressure.

I'm convinced that low oil levels, poor maintenance and worn pumps create the problem.

Just like the 350X, these cams ride right on aluminum and it's not a problem until it's neglected or the pump wears out. And the better the maintenance is, the less wear the pump will have.

Agreed though, that there is nothing wrong with trying SOMETHING!!

today i put the side case with the taped hole for the oil to head mod on my other running 200x.it seemed to work pretty good, doesnt take to much oil from bottom end, just a dribble.heres a pictue.
