I have gotten several emails to the fact. This is for Saul. He loves the air cooled's probly more than me. I know he will put it to good use. If he doesnt want it then i will put in the classifieds very cheap to someone that really wants it and will use it. I cant stand to give stuff or sale stuff very cheap and then see it on ebay the next day.

YA saul can pm you a ton in a few minutes!!! Then you do see or hear from him in a few days?? I think that is very nice of you to do. He wanted mine, but I had it sold a few times.I was just going to give him a PM about it.He wanted a payment plan.I dont really like that. But as everything else fell threw,Why not.But he cant beat FREE!!!

I just hooked another member up with a NOS standard piston and rings for a 300r..I thought about buying them then relisting it on ebay. But to help another member out is much more rewarding then a few bucks...

I give you 2 thumbs up on your generosity!!!:beer

I agree, helping a fellow triker out is the way to keep this sport alive. Or more into the normal people.... And i know about him hitting all the pm at once. My pm box hasnt worked the same since. He has alot of enthuisiam for this sport. Alot more than anyone else i have ever seen. I plan on letting alot of things go but shipping to him is a killer. It would be cheaper to rent a uhaul and drive everything up to him.

SAUL, EMAIL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SHOULD EVERYONE ELSE HAS!!!!!!!!

Guys, does anyone have a rough estimate on the total weight of a complete engine this size? Me and Barry are trying to maul over our shipping options and if we knew how much the weight was it would help a lot.

Thanks.

The important thing is the packaging and that can add another 20lbs - I love a plywood box myself. I bet that motor is about 65lbs or so??

I've had people ship them to me in cardboard and they get all f'd up in shipping. Big tupperware containers work great too!

Any way you slice it, it's gonna run ya a bit under 100$.

Pack it up, weigh it up and get some online quotes.......

The best engine shipping container I have ever used is a coleman cooler. sound silly, but they are well padded, and indestructable. I just shipped a KX500 motor to ok from ut, and it was just under 80.00 fedex ground. (in a cooler!)

Hey guys, cheapest shipping is a rubbermaid. Container packed with hundreds of bagged up grocery bags.

300r should run you 65 bucks or so plus insurance. A 350x only costs 85... And it's heavier.

The bags work GREAT for shipping. Ask the guy who got my 200x bottom end.

i have shipped 20 or so engines and i use cardboard. i have never had a complaint.

i take a sturdy box with about 4" per side around the engine. i then cut out large sliceds of cardboard and pack it tight. the key is to have it TIGHT.

i can ship a 250r engine for about $50.

I have to say,Maybe you never had a problem with cardboard. But every heavy item I receive in a box has been destroyed!!!! You probably go out of your way to take extra steps. But I have always liked a rubbermaid tote.I even had my take out 350x engine sent to me in a plywood box.The box looked like it fell off the plane in the air..

ONE THING VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER IN A TOTE. You need to line the bottom of the tote with lots of cardboard. Those jerks who move the tote seem to like to just drop the tote. Therefore the engine takes a sudden hit.200xman's 350x take out engine had the engine oil plug cracked from just that.Cardboard might weigh more then plastic bags. But man I will tell you,You skimp on the packing and the engine comes busted up.You will be some sorry!!!!! You get what you pay for remember that.... Take the extra time and money to do an overkill job in the shipping. I am not saying anyone will cheat on that from this deal.I am just warning all. Too many times I receive packages that are damaged.Unless you have insurance and the carrier even follows threw. You are SOL!!! UPS pretty much only covers lost items in their insurance. Not damaged ones. They claim it was poorly packaged.Even though it looks like a bomb went off next to it..

Just my 2 cents..:D

I did forget to mention I put styrofoam on he bottom of the tote, I write "this end up" on it... And skull and crossbones all over it.

I also seal the top ofthe toat with glue, and drill holes and put tie straps in those holes.

It's a cbination of a lot of techniques frommpackagesni have gotten.

Shipping store will have your documents to ship to Canada.

Thanks Goat. I will be shipping in a tupperware container that it was shipped to me in. Adding the tie raps is a good idea. I will use that one.

Exactly what Goat says, i shipped one in a tote and used pink styro board( insulation board for a house) in the bottom and sides of mine, I use a couple layers of it in the bottom and some arond the side! Perfect way to go in my opinion and alot cheaper then repairing the motor if it gets busted up! My brother is in construction so i always get his scrap insul board when he is done on the job!

Reminds me of the time I was flying to Las Vegas with my dad and his college friend that owned a bar. His friends luggage consisted of 4 coolers with the tops held on with duct tape. When he arrived in Vegas, he unloads his clothes from the coolers and then loaded the coolers back up with adult beverages. At the end of the trip, he puts his clothes back in the same coolers.

As an added benefit, he had no problem finding his luggage on the luggage belt at the airport!

So you must live way north to live in a igloo. Out here in the east coast we live in tee pees. Got an email today about a 310 kit for a air cooled 250r. Is this a head setup or cylinder and head? Or is the guy nuts and its a 300 dg head?

Geez guys, ye got it bad. I just drove thru New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and knocked on every tree house and tee pee and didn't find ye. I guess ye didnt want any Newfie visitors. I live in a cardboard box. Its sweet and you can cut windows and doors in it. Line it with duck tape and its waterproof.

Barry Man is the man, very nice give away. Saul your one lucky dog. I had storm_impulse ship me a bottom end for a 200x and it cost around $70 Canadian. And it leaked oil everywhere. lol
