I am guessing my seal for the stator shaft is gone bad and got oil into the stator cover and made the stator go bad. Does this sound right?

assuming you have no spark?, is there visibly oil there?

there is no spark and oil ran out of cover, about a 14" dia oil puddle on the floor from taking the stator cover off.

Have you tried cleaning everything really well then trying?

Not yet, I need to get some type of puller to take the flywheel off. I read I can clean the stator with mineral sprits, would that can it up decent?

Brake cleaner seems to work very well. Doesnt leave a residue. I am unsure about mineral spirits.

Whats a "stator shaft"??

Do you mean crank shaft?

Sounds like your left side crank seal is shot and possibly the main bearings too.

Electrical contact cleaner is best for ignition stuff but you seem to have another problem. With the stator cover off, grab the crank shaft FIRMLY and see if there is a teenie tiny amount of wiggle up and down. If not, just change the seal and hope for the best.....

Is the case cracked anywhere? Is this oil - premix smelling or gearbox oil smelling??
