Potential purchases. Many Questions

I'm considering purchasing an ATC.

I have a couple of choices:

A Honda 200m (1984). The guy wants $250 for it, and he says it runs, but needs either an battery or the pull start repaired.

A pair of 110's. One is complete, assembled, and runs but cuts out at about 1/2 throttle, It's a 1984. The other looks a tad older, and it's complete "for parts" with the engine off the bike and the head disassembled. The guy wants $350 for both of them.

I'm looking for casual riding for my boys (and me) around a 4-6 acre area with moderate hills. I'm pretty handy with tools, and can rebuild just about any motor, so I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty.

I would go with the 200m. More power, front supension and electric start.

Edit: Or yeah like FordFan said buy all of it. Maybe he will cut you a deal if you do that.

It's two different guys selling, so a package deal is not an option.

The guy with the 110's may take a bit less.

Suspension is always nice for the adults. 200m is nice unit. 110 for 350 + parts bike it to much imo. I bought 1 200s and 185 complete parts bike for $250. I paid $125 for a runnig 110, and $75 for the other running 110. You didn't say how many boys you have so buying 1 bike wold mean riding doubles. Buying 2 small 110's may suit but not much power for a good sized adult. imo.

I would buy the 200m and haggle him to down to $190 to $200 which I think is fair for something that needs work to ride. Then call the other guy and offer him $150 for the running 110 that needs work to ride as well.

So 200 + 150 = 350 for 2 runners that need work. Or cheaper if you can haggle him down more.

The 110's can have 185 suspension forks put on them and they look cool too, kind of like riding a harley or something..lol And usually the forks are fairley cheap.

I have a 200m and I really like it. Mine needs work, but runs and has power when we ride double. I've never had a 110 or ridden one, but I do like the 200m.

Thanks for the info....I had a 1985 200x when I was young...it was an amazing cycle....performed better than any of my friends' cycles.

I'll try to talk that guy down a tad for the 200m, if possible.

good choice im 6'5" and the sound of a 110 scares me but i love my 200m and its suprisingly fast

I also have the ability to purchase a Yamaha Tri moto 175. I like a 2 cycle bike very much, but the guy wants $400 for it. Is that a good price for a very nice (looks that way) cycle?

i have owned both a 200s and a tri moto 125 and the s is a better built machine

Well,

I can't get a reply from the 200m guy, so it's down to the Tri Moto 175 and the pair of Honda 110's....prices are similar.
