this might sound strange , i have a 200X engine but has a 185 jug and piston in it. i have not started it so i dont know if it will even fire up.. has anyone done this mod or will it even start?? it has good compression and the timing marks are dead on .. i figured i ask first before i slap it on my 200X frame .. was this done to reduce the power a little?? i know that the 185cc and 200cc engines use the same con rod but will it work this way??
sorry for all the Q's, i just have never see a 185 jug in a 200 engine..

yes, it should work just fine. the jugs and heads for the 200s 185s and 200x are all interchangable. i run a 185s bottom end in my 200x, but i put the 200x top end and carburetor on it. I havnt seen too many put the smaller jug on the x, but it wont pose a mechanical problem. Power wise, it is a little weaker, but the 200s and x jugs are actually only 193cc so its only 8cc smaller if you think about it. I think the 185 jug has a chrome bore, so it cant be bored out. You can always change it back by buying a different jug and piston. see how she runs. Good luck,

185cc cylinder can be bored to 200cc.... check your bore....it's maybe a 200cc piston.when your 185cc is bored to the last oversize you can oversize it to the std 200c piston

i think it has a .10 over piston in it, with any luck i will have me a running 200X :)

if it does feel a little lacking in power i would check to see what camshaft you have. Im not sure if theres a difference in 185/200x valve sizes, but the 200x definately has a better camshaft.

185 jug is fine. as stated, it'd just have slightly less power. if nothign else, you could get a 200x pisotn, have the jub bored to rin that pisotn and you'd have a 200cc motor again.

My 200x has a 185 jug on it. Bored it over back to the stock bore size for the 200x. Works great, although it does have less finning as it's off of an xl 185 not an atc 185.

i apreciate all the info , only problem i encountered as the timing was off by a tooth but i got her running.. :) it turns out it works just fine , will just have to get another jug and piston cause i want more power :D
