The plug i have is beginning to give me problems so i put a br8es in and the bike studders at the beginning of the powerband.

anyone experienced this?

the plug in it is an autolite with the only marking 404 that looks like someone wrote...

I'm confused. In the first sentence you said it has a BR8ES in it and in the third one you say it has an Autolite.:wondering

the plug in it now is the autolite.

the one i tried is the br8es with the studdering.

You might want to try a Champion, no problems with these in a 250R.http://www.championsparkplugs.com/results_appOther.asp?otherMotiveID=5791&mfid=2

does the autolite plug have a small pin like electrode?

stay away from champions....NGK's are the only way to go...stock is BR9ES

What do you have the gap set at on the NGK. An 8 is a little hotter than stock (assuming all R's take the same 9 plug as the water cooled ones do) but it shouldn't be causing a problem. I run an 8 in my 330 all the time, IMHO it helps keep the plug from fouling. If the gap is too big you'll have breaking up problems but running what is basically the plug the bike left the factory with (NGK BR9ES) shouldn't cause it to run badly.

Champions are not bad plugs. It depends on the machine. In my IT200 i run a champion N2c or n3c usually which is the equivalent of a B8es, but the engine will not run properly with the NGK. And my airfooler wont run with a 9, only an 8. Autolites on the other hand are junk.

does the autolite plug have a small pin like electrode?

the autolite electrode is noticably smaller than the br8es.

i set the gap the same asthe plug that was in it.

That's the difference plugs with a smaller electrode tend to make a hotter spark, your bike is probly jetted rich and someone compinsated by running that plug, so either you need to play around with leaning your jetting out a bit with the br8es or find another autolite with a small electrode they sell them at walmart.

But what did you set it at? .035"? .025"?

it was at like .37

That's WAY too big. Try bringing it down to .025" and see what happens.
