It could have something on the tip of the needle, but most likely the needle has a groove in it letting fuel by. I would install a carb kit and let her eat.

Bowl float may be stuck. Tap on the bowl of the carb to see if it stops

float seemed fine when I took it apart but I will check that next time out in the garage.....

when i put new tires on i put a wire wheel on a drill and cleaned the wheels really good where the bead of the tire seats and also wire wheeled where the O-ring goes. you could also put some gasket sealant on the O-ring. if the O-rings are in bad shape you could always replace them. i didnt have to get a tube. one more thing you could through in new valve stems if you already didnt.

You probly needed to clean the mounting surfaces before mounting the rim. Do not put fix it flat. The right way is to break them back down and clean them up. The cheater way is to add slime.

Would not use slime. The rim surfaces must be spotless, use power wire wheel. Check outer rim bead for burr's or dent's and file if needed. Just pull out old stem and use new, couple of buck's. I use new o rings and a little blue rtv silicone to seat them. Make sure your gasket is centered in the groove. Let silicone tack up to do this. As for carb, may be float needle seat worn or float height. 20mm or 0.79 is the setting from body flange to uppermost edge of float with carb inverted. Bend the float tang to do this. Good luck, love the 70's man............ madtiken to all:beer :w00t:

My 250sx was sitting in a river, front tire was still good and this is how:

Wire wheeled all rust off where the bead sits, put some bead sealant on it and then over inflated the tire to pop the bead.

Tire center did the valve stem and bead sealant for free.

My 70 leaked out the overflow tubes too. I rebuilt the carb and was ticked it still leaked. Ended up being the vents on the gas cap were sealed off. Tank would sit in the sun, air would expand in the tank, force it down into the carb and out the overflows. New cap from Dr ATV and no more probs.
