Decided to hit the cylinder today with a drill powered wire wheel. Also, while I had the intake and exhaust off, thought I'd take some cameraphone pics of what $600. dollars worth of Trinity Stage 4 porting looks like.

I honestly dont see where they hid $600 worth of work, but if you are happy with the results that is all that matters...

Since I'm going to have my KXT cylinder ported, I'm always on the lookout for someone else that has done the same to see how each company's work performs. I can see quite a bit of port alteration in your photos.
How's it feel?

Looks like they even ported the inside of the reed cage. I will say that the porting looks realy clean, and definitely is hogged out. What I can't really understand is why someone would spend that much money on a kxt cylinder. Imagine how much more power you could get with that port job ob a kx cylinder. I've known for a long time that trinity racing does excellent work. It looks good. Do you have to use race fuel with it?

Is this that 200cc tecate? destroked instead of debored? The port job looks like decent work, but from what can be seen in the photos there doesnt appear to be anything super radical goin on... opened up boyesen ports.. slightly opened intake window and the exhaust port matched to the pipe flange isnt exactly what I'd consider "trick".. I doubt any work was done to the transfer ports considering the sleeve doesnt appear to have even been matched to the casting.. I would bet it runs pretty good though combined with the other mods.. I would like to hear a sound clip of her screamin...

The porting and polishing was done back in 1993 or 1994. Trinity offered stage 1 thru 4 on port jobs. 1 being just a mild clean up and 4 being a hogged out, match ported job for hill racing. I was still pretty new back then and didnt know anything about the benefits of a KX cylinder. The cylinder is the 200cc destroked barrel. The transfer ports werent hogged out. Harry explained to me that anyone can hog out a barrel but its the flow characteristics that really make power. The porting was supposedly off a proven bench flowed design. The compression was slightly greater than stock due to me having Trinity deck the head and do a turbo cut. I ran 76 pump gas with Klotz premix back when it ran and it screamed! I didnt know crap about how to properly jet a carb back then so I'm sure the erratic power delivery was partly to blame on improper jets. Like I said in previous posts, it kinda bogs on the bottom, winds up slowly in the lower to midrange, then you had better have your seatbacks and tray tables in the upright position for the HUGE hit in the upper midrange. From what I remember back then, it actually snapped my head back and I almost lost grip on the bars. Once she is resurrected, I will definitely get start up video and some on board footage of her.
Now that I know better, I probably would have done things a little differently. Maybe stage 3 instead of 4 and shopped around for a better price. All I knew was, at the time, Trinity was the best and you get what you pay for.

I should also add that the $600. dollars was porting, polishing, turbo cut and decked head, reeds, upper rod bearing, custom fit Honda piston, custom fabricated aluminum barrel spacer and gasket kit.
