my 86 350X came with Cobra exhaust. I bought a stock muffler on feebay, and tried to put it on yesterday but it wouldnt fit onto my headerpipe. I took my headerpipe off to try and see if i could do it off the bike but it doesnt want to squeeze into it. Its digging into that gasket inside the muffler pipe and before i attempt to go buck wild on this I want to know if its possible. Are cobra headerpipes too fat to slide into stock Mufflers? Are they the same diameter and Im just missing something here?

Also, 1 stud broke taking off the headerpipe. The fix was Welding a nut onto the broken stud and putting a socket on it. It broke the first time and made the stud even shorter, but I was able to weld 1 more nut on it and try again and got it to thread out that time. phew, i did not feel like trying to drill that out. been there, done that. not fun.

I will probably sell the whole exhaust I took off the bike..

I found this on ebay. But the pic looked fuzzy so I had him email me some more pics. Does this look like its shorter than a stock pipe should be on the end? Looks altered to me from looking at pics of other stock pipes but Im not 100% sure.

TTT, anyone? Does that pipe look OK or cut short?

I think it looks short too. Could be the pick I guess, but I thought it extended farther from the heat sheild bolts

its definatly been cut, dont buy it, you can get nice ones cheap off ebay, just be patient. Heres what it should look like. got this off ebay for like 25 bucks, even came with the heat sheild.

It looks cut. I know for sure the DG slides over stock.

ok thanks I thought so. Im glad I just didnt take his word for it the first time I asked. So emailed again to see pics. And I was thinking it didnt look right. So thanks Aldo and the rest of you guys now I know what it needs to look like.
