I am about to rebuild the lower end on a 86 kxt250 and will need to reseal the center cases. i asked my dealer but all he wanted was to sell me some parts
i will be ordering from service honda (unless you have a better spot) so a part # would be nice.
thanks

I use yamabond 4. It's semi-hardening, which means you can take it apart again someday.

I only us threebond 1211 gasket sealer. The best ive ever use and will never use anything else. Its a little hard to find, but well worth it. Semi hardening but very strong. Can be found at most Kawasaki dealerships.

Caterpillar gasket maker. The orange/red stuff. comes in a metal can with a brush applicator. Best I've found.

I use threebond 1215. Its only available in japan. It causes cancer and is not forsale in the states. This is what KTM uses. Most jap companies use the same. I work for a japanese company and we import it in.

I use Threebond 1211 or Yamabond. I've used it countless times and is what is recommended in the repair manuals.

I've used Yamabond, but my Bro says that Hondabond is the best. He works on 500HP Porsche race cars for a living, so if its good enough for them, its good enough for my bikes. BTW I think its Hondabond 5. I just used it so I should know, but I'm not sure.

I've used almost all of them at this point but I favor YAMABOND 4. Never had it fail me yet.

Hi-Tack from Napa. The stuff is great and if you notice a week or month later that you got some on the side case and want to remove it quickly, then just get some acetone and wipe it off. I will tell you it's the shnitz.

Why can't someone use a regular automotive gasket sealer?

You can use it. In fact Hi-Tack is a multi-purpose sealant and it's really good stuff. That little can probably has enough in it to completely rebuild 10-20 3 wheeler engines for under $6 a can. Once you use it, you will see why I like it.

ha ha, Now this makes sense to a heavy line mechanic. LOL!
I would have to use Cummin's grey silicone sealant.

I converted to using the threebond 1211 a couple of years ago, haven't had any issues with it.

Hondabond HT--It's used at manufacturing time on Honda (automobiles) Manual transmission halves (among other things). That's all I used on anything that didn't require a "solid" gasket for over a decade while working for Honda and in my own shop.
I have 100% level of trust in Hondabond (if surfaces are prepped correctly and hondabond is applied correctly)

Nice to know someone else on here uses the same stuff and likes it. I know most all my local friends have switched over to it.

i 2nd hondabond! we use that stuff on 500+hp drag civics.
515 loctight works good, its a anaerobic sealer so it will only harden in the absence of oxygen (ie bolt the cases together) i like it, no mess, only takes a thin film to work, and it will move with the case's which is nice on larger inline 4 motors ect.

Three bond is the best but I prefer to use no sealant or only very little on problem areas. When I break a factory sealed case there's never any visible sealant.
