Hey everyone,
I am wondering if an 81-82 250R engine will bolt into the 83-84 style frame?
Are the motor mount locations the same?
Anyone tried it to know for sure?

I have read the 81-82 bottom ends were better, not sure if there is a strength issue of maybe a transmission issue....not sure of the validity of it.

I believe the motors are exactly the same, although the 83-84 have 30mm carbs, so maybe something is different? 90% sure they are identical.

Engine itself bolts in the same, BUT the shifter shaft is longer on the 81-82. Either have to swap in a different shifter or notch the frame...

Mr toocheap is correct the shifter shaft is longer on the 81/82 and will hit on the side of the 83/84 frame. The shifter shafts will interchange so you can put a 83/84 in a 81/82 and you will be good to go.
