Well before I show the pics I better give a little background on the machine. This last summer, I bought an 84 200x in a bucket, literally. I brought it home and bought a top end gasket kit and a few other parts to make it ridable, and I put it all together to see how it felt. The guy told me the engine smoked like no other, so he took it apart to find out what was wrong, and didnt get much farther then removing the top end. So I stuck the gasket kit on to see what was wrong with the motor, and sure enough after I got it together and fired it smoked us out of the garage quick!!
Against my better judgement, I decided to take it out on a ride up the mountain. Me and my friend got a few miles up to the dirt road and we were going pretty fast, 50 mph easy down this road. The grader had scraped up a little dirt burm on either side of the road, about a few inches tall. I came around a corner hauling ass and I completely lost traction, found out the hard way I only had front brakes, and slid sideways and clipped this dirt burm at about 55 mph. I dont remember anything after this but my friend said the machine rolled in the air 2-3 times before landing, and luckily I was wearing my helmet because it knocked a rock out of the ground about the size of the gas tank!! I came to about a minute later, next to the machine upside down in a puddle, still idling away like a Honda!! I got up, rolled it back over (it stalled then) and kinda took in what had just happened. I walked away with only a few scratches and a bent grab bar and broken clutch lever. I got back on the machine and kicked it over, and suprisingly it started first kick, however it now sported a nice rod knock. Since it was only a few miles back home and no body could come get us, I drove it back.
Now, I havent had any funds to fix it just yet, so I never bothered to crack open the motor to find the problem. I just assumed the wrist pin or rod bearing went out. It would still fire up first kick every time and had tons of power, it just knocked. So fast forward to today, I bought a banshee project and have a 2nd gen 200x and realize I probably wont get around to fixing this, so I sold it to my friend who has other 200x's. Curious, we tore the engine down to see what the problem was, and this is what we found....
Keep in mind this thing STILL RAN and would start up first kick every time, even in cold weather. Still had tons of power and pulled great, didnt feel like there was anything wrong except the knock.....

Yes, that sucker actually RAN, and pretty good too!! Im happy to say that the rest of the engine still feels tight, although it will be flushed and gone over before anything else is done.
Just thought you guys would get a kick out of this.
