Need pics to really tell you that. Plus, price also depends on area. IMO, $750 on the average

Yeah I asked him for pics. I'll post them when I get them.

$500-800 is what I was thinking as well. Knowing the people around here though he'll probably looking for over a grand. Theres a guy here that wants $1600 for an '84 200 big red.

people are stupid. they think that a running 20+ yr old machine will fetch a lot of $. the funny thing is it enver sells. to be $1600 red it needs to be mint or pretty darn close.
the X if it's mint can fetch $1200-$1600
ok shape with good plastics $750-$900
running but plastics cracks and other "minor" stuff $400-$600
runs but motor needs work, bearings shot seat trashed plastics broken and cracked $200-$400
non-running but mostly complete with plastics (good or bad shape) $75-$200

this is what they "sell" for in my area. they ask more but never get it.

well in Wisconsin- a 200x would go for $200-$400 tops.

a nice 200x around me is anywhere from 750-1200 depending on the seller and what they believe its worth. Some sellers are more realistic than others.

ones for 500-600 are usually in need of work cosmetically and mechanically

There is a guy on my local CL with an 85 for 800 but needs a crank and doesnt run.

Another kid I know who over inflates all his prices has his 84 200x forsale for 1450. Thats 350x territory IMO.

Yep Indiana and Wisconsin always seem to be cheaper than in Illinois. For example, there was a guy selling an 85R for $200 in Wis. He said it needed a carb, probably only needed a rebuild kit. It looked to be in good shape too. Needless to say, he deleted the ad in two days. 250R's in IL go for like $900 average. I always check the Madison and Michiana CL's when I check the Chicago one.

BTW are you talking 500-800 Canadian? That seems high then.

Here in so. cal It takes around $1000 to get a REAL nice one. $700-$800 for a good running ugly one. Below that they are mostly time bombs. Unless of corse you get on of those one in a million deals.

I paid $300 for mine. I now have at least a grand into my engine and pile of parts that are waiting to be installed lol.

If that's the case then you must be talking about southern WI. Northern WI is a whole different ballgame. Any ATV/ATC that is rideable is worth at least $500 on the average. Same rule applies for snowmobiles up there.

Chaps80,

in Ontario Canada a decent 200x averages between $800.00 - $1100.00

I paid $400 for a fairly clean 83' last summer. Bone stock except for a twist throttle and Answer handlebars. Fenders are busted up and the tank had a dent in it.

Unless it is all original low miles, it most likely has multiple problems that will take $200-$1,000 to fix right. Sometimes it's just worth it to buy one that is all restored already, and in great shape. Other times, we just bite the bullet and do it oursleves, and keep them alive.
The one I paid $700 for, I wouldn't take again for more than $100 with the amount of problems it had.
Same goes for any trike.

Bid low and hope for the best. I was fortunate enough to know the history of my ATC, and I got to take out for a day before I bought it. I'm only the third owner. A friend of mine bought the trike from a guy who bought it new. He paid $600 for it. My friend bought all new tires for it only because the stockers were dry rotted, they weren't even worn out.

He rolled the trike down a hill one day he was out riding and did all of the damage to the plastic and tank. He was so upset after rolling it that he offered it to me on a payment plan. I acted like I didn't want it and told him I'd have to ride it first. He pretty much gave it to me at that point and I gave him a hundred bucks a week until it was paid off. The wife never even knew I bought it!

I got the original owners manual and tool kit with it. The swingarm skid was not only intact, but in excellent condition. I honestly don't think the valves have ever been adjusted.
