85 Ytm225 Dr Question Please Help!

I got this bike from a buddy of mine for free,the pinion gear is shot and i cant find one oem or even on ebay or craigslist. what can i do ive been without riding since my 200x was stolen and i thought it would be easy to get riding again with a free bike but it seems to be getting a lil difficult. Will a ytm200 rear end fit? maybe that way i can better my chances at finding one. Im new to the forum just signed up today, i figured this would probably be my best chance. thanks for your time....

yes, te shaft drive 200 rearend will fit

Try posting a wanted ad in the classifieds here.

I have now swapped a 200 rear into the 225 but another member here has, search for a thread by user name Yamahauler. I think it swapped in easily but I would check his thread. It does change the gearing; using the 200 rear will gear down the 225.
