there was one listed on ebay a while back. gotta keep your eyes peeled. I think that's the only one for the late modelX I've seen.

Don't get the cobra unless your budget absolutely forces you to. Most people don't like the cobras one bit.

Im gonna agree with vealmonkey, dont get a cobra. Bassani, DG, or supertrapp are all relatively easy to find pipes that make good power. I personally run a bassani and love it. I wish you could have gotten the bassani that was up on ebay a week or two ago, it went pretty cheap i think. Just check ebay often, theres ussually a bassani or dg or something on there used thats in relatively decent shape once or twice a month.

I can answer that. they are rattle your neighbors windows loud! :naughty: and they burn the paint off and rust quickly.... :welcome:

yes, very loud and annoying sound. I actually liked mine better and it seamed to have more power when a spark arrester was put on the end. I ended up taking it off, cutting the head pipe back and putting a 85/86 350x supertrapp on it, it almost bolted right up with very little work.

yeah they are loud but they add decent power...

I've never heard a cobra exhaust that sounded good on anything. Or that made good power on anything. Street bike, trike, either way a supertrapp makes better power and sounds better. Unless you like loud. Cobra is cheaper by a lot though....

I don't like loud for riding in the woods, I don't think anybody does. I would rather be quiet, but loud enough so that I can be heard when I'm right near you, but not so that I can be heard 5 minutes before I'm near you. My ktm200exc is almost right at the point I want it, can be heard right behind you or near you, but quiet enough to almost sneak-up on atv/dirtbikes that are running. When I had a cobra pipe w/ spark arrestor it was close that point. I felt a decent jump in power when I went to a supertrapp(also somewhat louder), but nowhere near as loud as a straight un-spark arrested cobra. At the track, loud doesn't bother me much, in the woods is where loud can bring you alot of trouble. Less sound=more ground. One of my close ridng spots is closed down due to noise, from guys that drag race behind the homes. If you go alittle further back and have a sorta quiet bike, you can't be heard from the homes.
Many riding spots are gone simply from noise, my boss took his dog to a wma area a few weeks ago. He heard this roar come, it got louder and louder, lasted for several minutes and when they came by, it was 3 quads. There is no reason why it should be that loud. Where I ride my dirtbikes, there is riding done there, some of them, I can hear for minutes before I can see them. Now keep in mind, there are people that walk their dogs there, bird watch and stuff. I seriously doubt they want to hear a roar from far and this has brought the rangers out there, many of the riders in that area were illegal users(rules are reg/ins/inpection/motorcycle license and NO ATV'S). I got stopped, no ticket, but the only reason the rangers were out was because they got sick of getting noise complaints, some weeks later, they had a raid there and impounded many dirtbikes/quads, unregistered trailers, drinking and drugs. Loud pipes don't save lives, they only piss off people.

Can't possibly agree with you more on that one, I've got a supertrapp as it came up locally and i didnt have a stock muffler. It's a great pipe, if i take a few of the discs out it does quieten it down quite well, and it is well packed, yeah sure taking the discs out knockes out the fueling a little, but its not like you want highly tuned bikes for the woods anyway. TBH i'm almost at the point of sourcing a stock one for this, as most of my riding is in the woods

I just got a 200x and its all stock, I don't care if the pipe I get is loud or not, but would prefer performance. My 200m is for the woods (actually desert here) and that thing is quiet. Probably going to go for the supertrapp myself when I get to to that point.

The Bassani I have is heavy as all hell!!
I'm trying to lighten things up, not weigh it down....
I'm allot happier with my SuperTrapp than I was with my Cobra and DG.

Ive got a DG on my 86 200x and its not too bad. Maybe thats just because Im use to it. Not sure how much power it added, but it wheelies effortlessly and has great power throughout the RPM range. No 'flat' spots. Rejetting is a good idea when using an aftermarket exhaust system. Ive got a UNI air filter also.

after saying all that, I'm agreeing with cottonwood here, seeing as i'm in the process of making my 200x road legal, the 200s is gonna be the one for the woods.......and that'll be completely stock.
