View Full Version : 200x dilema-original or auto-x?

Ok, I got a 200x frame and nearly every part to build it. Originally I was going to use the engine from my crappy 200s to make an auto-x and part the 200s out. I now have the opportunity to buy a 250es big red and I'm wondering should I continue with my plan or just fix the 200s up and sell it and get a 200x engine for my X. So far I have about $300 in my 200x and I still need to powder coat everything and it needs an engine. The cheapest I've seen 200x engines are $300 and would need some work. For not much more I could buy a lifan engine which has it's own set of problems. What would you do? Lifan, 200s, or 200x engine?

you'll hate yourself if you don;t put it as a 200x. it's the same top end as the 200s but there's a difference in how it runs and performeance. i built a bad @$$ 200s/e top end for my big red and this 200x would out do it. i may be swapping the cam, rockers and springs to the X to get even more outta it.

I would go with the stock 200x engine. Ive ridden several auto x's before and I liked them better with the right motor. Dont get me wrong - auto x's are awesome but for some reason it just feels better with the 200x engine.

200x engines aren't that hard to find. I have one that I bought and it came with one of those top end kits that has the cylinder and piston and gasket kit with it. I never used it and could sell it to you for $500 plus shipping. I bought it off a member here and it is supposed to be in good shape. I had plans for the engine but another board member on here never followed through so the engine is just sitting. No idea what shipping would be.

It would be cheaper to find one thats ready to ride.

What top end kit are you talking about. I currently have limited funds especially if I decide to go with a 200x engine. Then I'd feel obligated to rebuild the 200s to sell instead of parting it out since I no longer would need the engine. Problem is I have too many projects. I want the 250es to use for hunting. I have a 185s and the 200s that I need to tear down and rebuild to sell, and I have an atc90 that is torn down but it needs to be built back along with my 200x. I currently don't have a running trike except another 185s at my dads. I know there is a 200x motor in the classified for $3xx shipped. No matter what engine I use, it's gonna get torn apart and powder coated.

The 200x engine that I have has a worn and tired piston and cylinder. When I bought the engine, included in the deal was a new piston and gasket kit and another cylinder that is already bored for the new piston. All one would have to do is install the new piston and the freshly bored extra cylinder and the gaskets from the gasket kit and they should be ready to go. You could ride your 200x while you rebuild your other trikes and sell them and then use the money from selling your other trikes to fancy up the 200x.

I never see them for sale around here. Not to mention the one I have is already broken down to be PC'd whenever I have time to do it. Since I don't have a big enough oven I'm gonna epoxy paint the frame. Local shop wants $225 to PC the frame Screw that!

Not really. I can dig the pison out and if it's still in the box I can chedk it for you. I don't believe it's a wiseco piston. The guy that sold me the engine, a board member on here bought one of those piston and cylinder kits off ebay and that is what came with the 200x engine when I bought it. I never took the 200x engine apart let alone out of the box since I bought it. The engine I bought for another project that never materialized and the box with the entire engine and the piston and cylinder kit is sitting in the closet. If you look at my feedback you will find the feedback from buying that engine and piston and even the classified ad might still be in the classified section. I'll look and see and try to link the threads here.

you're a Idiot
some people go auto x because an auto x makes a nice trail putter. It also can turn a 200x into a fairly decent mudbike for the average joe. Some people just don't like clutching all the time.
me...personally...I'm going with option 4...the one that isn't listed.
A lifan black and chrome with manual clutch.

some people go auto x because they have a vagina
fixed :D
if you want to go slow or dont want a clutch buy something other than a 200x step away from the 200x and put down the lifan or 200 semi auto, leave this one to a guy that deserves it instead of ruining a good trike :D

welcome to the boards...with such a shitty attitude...I'm sure you'll last a while.
you do realize the lifan I listed is a direct replacement for a 200x engine? it has a higher compression stock and more hp. Not to mention that every piece on it is brand new.
stock for stock...the lifan takes it. 23 year old engine vs new lifan...the lifan takes it. sorry bud, that's life.
yeah the lifan won't last 20 years...but it'll last ten...and you can buy them NEW

Nice one Goat:lol:
My vote is with Goat either get the lifan motor or do an original 200X motor. Search for goat's post on the lifan

This started out as just a frame so I'll do with it what I want. As for your comment, you don't deserve to post in my thread so bye.

wow braunz200x. you go from thinking about an auto-x to slamming other people for the same idea a week later and saying that people want an auto-x only if they have a vagina. guess you fall in that category as well. how bout do the forum a favor...grow up and STFU. BTW, i guess you can give me your 200x frame since you don't "deserve it" either

hey smart ass let me start by acknowledging the fact that you just said you don't deserve your trike and I only considered an auto x because i may not be able to find a 200x motor ie: forced to go auto x like i said..
n10sivern
02-06-2009, 10:11 PM
no, you said i didn't deserve the 200x and WTF do you think i was considering an auto-x for you moron.....cause i have a 200s engine at my house and no 200X engine available. i'm in the same position you are in but yet you decided to come into my thread and trash it when you are in the same situation.
that's enough of this crap. i'll delete this entire thread before i let this go any further and take up anymore space on these forums.

Just to clarify,
I wasn't referring to you n10sivern, I was speaking hypothetically about anyone who has a complete 200x and is considering a auto x based on going slow and or not having to manual clutch.

I decided that I wanted both .... autox and a clutch motor.... I think that the auto makes a sweet trail bike, great loner, inexpensive alternative and something that honda should have offered ..... I say do it if you don't like it you can easily switch back to the X motor when you find one in your price range and have a nice ride in the mean time......
